Topic of your Presentation: “E-learning as a means of opening access to higher education in Africa”
Short Abstract of Presentation
In this session Prof. Rose Mwonya will examine education in Africa from the e-learning perspective. She will highlight issues to do with equity and access to education, the free and compulsory basic education movement in Africa among others. Having grown up and schooled in rural Kenya she will narrate her journey – and the obstacles along the way – to rise to the position she now holds. She will bring to light the challenges of “the business as usual” mentality in the education sector in light of changing technology and gender stereotyping. Hers will be case for e-learning as a way of opening access to higher education in Africa explained from the “shoe-wearer” herself.
