2016 Keynote by Prof. Traxler
In his Keynote, Prof. Traxler will speak about informal learning as being vital for the continued professional development of local government officials in rural areas around the world. The EAGLE project has built an online platform that encourages officials to create, transform, share, discuss and exploit open educational resources across a range of digital technologies; it allows them to work with established and emergent topics and build their expertise and esteem within the growing online community of their peers. The project team is drawn from universities and institutes from across Europe and has worked with target groups of learners from a range of rural contexts and national and organisational cultures. It offers learners the chance to explore their professional need for practice in developing judgments and arguments and for calibrating their growing abilities amongst their peers and against objective criteria even for topics that are not yet consolidated. This keynote will discuss how the pedagogies and technologies of the EAGLE project have a wider relevance that might transfer into a commercial and African context
